Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe have been successful hosts of one of the most popular sports analysis shows in the country. They have been one of the pioneers in popularising talk shows that discuss sports. However, the era of Skip and Shannon seems to be coming to an end. The NFL HOFer has made a decision to leave the Undisputed Show and go on to future endeavors. And, it seems the hosts are not their regular selves in their last few episodes.

Interestingly, while the hosts were speaking about a player from Dallas Cowboys, they adopted a different demeanor altogether. It seems like the hosts were a little bit different than their usual yelling selves.

The era of the ‘Undisputed’ Show is coming to an end in just a few days. As per Sharpe’s contract, he will be leaving the show when the NBA Finals get over. And since these dates have been confirmed, the last few episodes that have been coming up are the last few appearances of Skip and Shannon together. Interestingly, the duo seemed a lot calmer as compared to their usual appearances.

The duo was talking about the possibility of Ezekiel Elliot coming back to the Cowboys after being released. The running back had been one of the core players in the Cowboys. However, he got released after a dip in his performance during the most recent season. Sharpe and Skip discussed Zeke’s situation.  Interestingly enough, Skip was a lot calmer with his analysis than usual and it appeared to be Sharpe’s influence.

Skip spoke about Zeke and said, I don’t think they want Zeke back. God bless him but he had a great first three seasons with Dallas and then he hit the wall that he used to try to run through and I just don’t see it. Unless Jerry wants him around just for some sort of team leadership on a very minimum contract I don’t see his place in the rotation.”

Additionally, their calmness was very unexpected considering the whopping $90 million contract the Cowboys almost had to pay for Zeke, regardless of his departure. He has been signed for a 6-year-long $90 million contract, with three years guaranteed. However, his next three years were not written down as guaranteed. Based on Zeke’s performance in the 2022 season, his being released does make sense.

Elliot’s play with the Cowboys

While Zeke has been a reliable running back through most seasons, his performance has been very unsatisfying in recent seasons. His stats this season have been some of the lowest they’ve ever been. In terms of just his rushing attempts, this has been his worst season with only 231 attempts. In terms of his total yards covered, he has had the lowest stat put up this year with just 968 yards. Furthermore, this season, he has put up the least amount of receives, 17. As compared to his previous seasons, the 2022 season has been his worst in almost all aspects.

While there have been no talks about bringing him back, cutting Zeke seemed to be a logical step to create cap space. However, it only remains to be seen if the Cowboys will bring him back and give him another chance.
