Green Bay Packers Cut Veteran Wide Receiver Ahead of 2021 NFL Season

The Green Bay Packers enter 2021 with a do or die attitude. The franchise which has now lost two back-to-back NFC title games is looking to finally cross that hurdle this season.
And it could be their last shot at a Super Bowl in a while. The side’s front office was at loggerhead with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers held out a contemplated either leaving the franchise or retiring from the sport altogether.
But in the end, the Green Bay Packers managed to convince Aaron Rodgers to return. With a reworked contract hinting at an exit at the end of the 2021 NFL season, the Packers’ Super Bowl window could be closing fast.

So the side is making sure to provide all the weapons Rodgers needs to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Lambeau Field. But with the new season approaching, roster cuts are inevitable. And one veteran wideout has had to face the brunt of it.
Devin Funchess released by Green Bay Packers
27-year-old wide receiver Devin Funchess signed with the Green Bay Packers back in 2020. But due to COVID, the wide receiver opted to sit out 2020 and play for a roster spot instead in 2021.

Things looked good for the wide receiver until injuring his hamstring during a joint practice with the New York Jets. Subsequently put on the injured reserve list, Funchess is now a free agent.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero tweeted about the same saying that the wide receiver had been released after an injury settlement following his season ending injury.
