The Green Bay Packers are ready to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Although Green Bay has been below average this season, lead QB, Aaron Rodgers, looks forward to facing his former head coach and lifelong friend, Mike McCarthy. McCarthy is now the mentor for the Cowboys. However, that did not stop the Super Bowl-winning champ from dedicating sweet words to the rival’s coach.

The reigning MVP winner only had affirmative words for his former coach with whom he played for 12-plus seasons. Even though McCarthy no longer coaches the Packers, Aaron Rodgers stays in touch with him. The 59-year-old coach was hired to guide the Packers from 2006 to the time he was let go in 2018. He still had four games left in that season. In 2011, he led the cheeseheads to the Super Bowl XLV title.

When Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, he talked about giving McCarthy a big hug! “Mike’s Pittsburgh toughness and grit on the outside and a big soft teddy bear on the inside,” Rodgers said. “There were definitely some tears over the years, both in team settings and also in one-on-one settings. Him and I definitely shed some tears over the years together in conversations, usually happy tears I would say. But yeah, Mike’s a big-hearted guy, and I like to see him let the emotions come out.” When the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys face each on Sunday, will there be any animosity between the current coach and the top QB?

The Green Bay Packers have not been delivering the best this season. They lost five games consecutively since Rodgers became the starting quarterback. The recent loss was against the Detroit Lions 15-9.

When the head coach, Matt LaFleur, was asked about Aaron Rodgers’ critical comments, he cleared out that the NFL MVP did not call any teammate out by name. However, according to him, the entire team deserved to get blamed.

“I think that you know, we have to be truthful with one another, and sometimes the truth hurts,” LaFleur told interviewers.
