“I Like Who We’re Lining Up”: Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Feels Confident on QB Situation Despite Dak Prescott Out With Brutal Thumb Injury

The Dallas Cowboys faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener matchup last Sunday. Not only did the team lose by a score of 19-3, but they also saw their leading QB, Dak Prescott, succumb to an injury. Since the 29-year-old cannot play for some time now, the team needs to look out for new QBs to support them.

Also, a 0-2 start will not be a good look for America’s team. Hence, Jerry Jones, the multi-billionaire owner of the Cowboys, clarified his views about the impending situation of the quarterbacks on the team.

During the loss of the team against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Prescott endured an injury. He suffered an extra-articular fracture to his right thumb. The fracture occurs above the wrist joint and does not extend into the joint. This was a relief for the Dallas Cowboys because they feared the injury to be an intra-articular fracture.

After Dak Prescott, the team will now have to depend on the 28-year-old backup shot-caller, Cooper Rush. Jones believes Rush can make game-winning plays, even though there are problems at the offensive line and wide receivers. Rushed started one of the Cowboys’ games last year. The team won by a score of 20-16. And his stats were 24 of 40 passes for 325 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Jerry Jones appeared on a radio show and discussed the concern regarding the quarterbacks of the team. He said, “I think Rush is up to the task of winning ball games for us, and he certainly has had a lot of experience in this offense…So, I like who we’re lining up out there to give us a start right there.”

When will Dak Prescott return to the field?

Since the fracture is not fatal, the team did not put him on injured reserve. On the radio, Jones revealed that the expected return of the injured quarterback was eight weeks.

But after the surgery, he thinks it will take Prescott to return in four weeks. That means the QB will miss out on four games and will be back when the Cowboys move to Philadelphia in Week 6.
