Former Dallas Cowboys player Sanders, who has been facing a medical threat in recent months, now faces a challenging decision regarding the future of the Colorado kids. Taking on the role of leading the Colorado Buffaloes and signing a lucrative 30-million-dollar contract, he finds himself in a state of confusion. Despite his painful circumstances, he took to his Instagram story to express a profound message dedicated to his cherished long-time companion.

A person for decades

Recently, Sanders took to his Instagram story to share a heartfelt video message dedicated to his driver, Don Heaton, and his wife, Debbie Heaton. Don has been faithfully serving as Sanders’ driver for over four decades, and as he approaches retirement, Sanders has something to convey to his old friend. In the video, he said, “Don, Don, Don! My man, my driver for well over a decade when I was with the NFL Network and other various places of employment I’ve done. You’ve always been on time, you’ve always been professional, you’ve always been steadfast, you’ve always been just a great human being.

He further added, “I love you, I appreciate you. I know you are getting ready to retire.” Sanders also extended his thoughts to Debbie, Don’s wife, acknowledging the potential adjustments they may face with Don being home all day in retirement. With sincerity, he wished them both the very best, assuring, “I’m praying for you. I’m praying with you.” He expressed his hopes for divine blessings upon them and wished for each tomorrow to be better than today. This video followed another video in which Sanders was seen conversing with his medical team, receiving updates on his injury.

Sanders’ toe amputation

Last September, Sanders underwent surgery to address a dislocated toe and an inflamed nerve. Despite his efforts to return to the football field sidelines, utilizing crutches and a golf cart, complications arose, leading to a prolonged 23-day hospitalization and subsequent multiple surgeries. It was during this challenging period that Sanders received a diagnosis of three life-threatening femoral arterial blood clots and developed compartment syndrome.

After enduring a total of eight surgeries, Sanders faced the difficult decision of undergoing the amputation of his left foot’s big toe and second toe. Recently, Sanders was observed receiving updates on his health and engaging in a lighthearted conversation with his medical team.
