Every single step matters and the league is making its moves. Last Super Bowl showcased this when Eagles Autism Foundation partnered with KultureCity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping venues optimize for sensory inclusivity. Together they built a permanent sensory room at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona ahead of the final match so that every football fan can savor the showdown without the sensory challenges getting in their way. The sensory chambers offered various devices to help from overstimulation like fidget toys, low-lighting beanbag chairs, relaxing music, and an activity wall to support individuals.

It does not stop there, Indianapolis Colts have taken another direction toward inclusivity by unveiling a new edition of their hoodie supporting autism awareness. Because every step counts.

Colts stepping up for the cause

Autism is a developmental condition associated with a range of differences in behavior, communication, interaction, and learning. While there are varying opinions about a conclusive definition, it’s a spectrum and people with autism need different levels of support. The autism awareness is focused on educating and creating awareness of the condition and promoting methods for creating an inclusive society that embraces neurodiversity.

Sticking to this significant cause, Colts have dropped their new stock of ‘Special Fearless Against Autism Hands Design Hoodie T-Shirt’ on the market. The custom-made apparel pieces feature the franchise logo along with the multicolored puzzle pieces commonly associated with autism. The hoodies charge a price of $ 43.95 per piece, thereby offering the fans an opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause.

This is not the first time the league franchises have teamed up to make an impact when it comes to autism awareness.

Strides toward making an impact

Last year several players from different teams came together to participate in the ‘My Cause My Cleats‘ campaign by Autism Speaks, a non-profit autism awareness organization. The players wore Autism Speaks-inspired cleats to the games as part of the initiative. Notably, San Francisco 49ers  tackle Mike McGlinchey honored his brother Jimmy who is diagnosed with autism by taking part in the mission.

After the games, the cleats were auctioned off at the sales and the proceedings were channeled to help drive the NFL’s mission to promote awareness for the needs of individuals on different ranges of the autism spectrum and their families. The funds raised were also directed to promote and design various initiatives making strides towards creating an inclusive society.
