Julian Edelman Talks About the Bromance He Shared With Tom Brady During Their Time at New England

Tom Brady and Julian Edelman spent 10 seasons together playing for the New England Patriots. The iconic duo were part of the the Patriots dynasty that dominated the league for years.
Winning three Super Bowls together, the two became close friends both on and off the field. And while the two share a close bond they were never afraid to have at a go at each other when needed.
While Brady continues to be a dominating presence in the league winning his seventh Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Edelman hung up his boots at the end of last season.

Looking back at his time in New England with Brady, Edelman described the legendary quarterback as his “older brother.”
No filters when it came to Tom Brady
Appearing on the Green Light podcast, Edelman explained what it was like playing with Brady. And occasionally being on the end of his spurts of anger.

“He used to get on me like an older brother. But I was the kind of guy he could get on. It was tough for him — when I was young, he used to get on me real hard because we had a connection with the Bay Area, we had the same representation,” Edelman said.

The relationship though soon changed as the two bonded and became closer with one another.
“As I got older, he would yell at me and I would yell back if it was not prohibited. If this wasn’t meant to be yelled at, I’m like, ‘Bro, you can’t yell at me for this.’”
Edelman though never took Brady’s words to heart. He said Brady knew he could handle the QB’s wrath unlike some others.
“He used to like to yell at me because, I think, he couldn’t yell at other guys because they would tank if he did,” Edelman said. They would fully tank and quit or get their feelings hurt if a guy like Tom Brady gets on you and just starts yelling at you.”

And at the end of the day, Edelman knew that Brady had nothing but love and respect for his fellow teammate. Something he made abundantly clear in a conversation they had.
“I remember he goes, ‘If I yell at you, you know I love you,” Edelman said. “I’d be like, ‘Yeah… you must really love me then.”

Though the two have gone their separate ways, their bond remains strong. Friendships in the NFL are quite common, but perhaps very few are as strong and transparent as that of Brady and Edelman.
