Lamar Jackson’s contract woes still exist, even after putting on a show in the recent outing against New England Patriots. Becoming the only player in the Super Bowl era to throw 3 touchdowns and rush 100+ yards in 2 consecutive weeks is evidently not enough for the Ravens.

Jackson will unsurprisingly be searching for the answers to what he needs to do to get himself a new contract. But it seems he need not worry. Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner, who also represents himself just like Jackson, explains how for the QB, “the leverage is on his side”.

Jalen Ramsey and Bobby Wagner comment on Lamar Jackson’s contract woes

On the show ‘Straight off the Press’, Jalen Ramsey and Bobby Wagner talk at length about how Jackson deserves a contract renewal with the Ravens. Ramsey feels that Jackson’s strategy for a new contract should involve a “holdout.”

“If I was in Lamar’s shoes and I had the leverage that I feel like he has right now, he is a top quarterback in the league… I feel like he has all the leverage. It ain’t gonna be running the same without Lamar, right? If I was Lamar, in essence, I would (pause) I would call their bluff a little bit,” the cornerback said.

” I would like (pause) yo look, I ain’t, without, without a new contract. Without you showing me that you all value me. Man, I’m not gonna play—Man—if he gets dinged up, I’m not finna to play through these injuries like I would. I’m not going to be going out here, sacrificing my body, and y’all are in essence—not saying this is what they’re doing—but y’all are “disrespecting me” by not giving me what I deserve.” Ramsey concluded.

Wagner, though not openly, disagrees, saying his attitude would be the same as what Jackson’s is right now. Go out there, win games, and show them his capabilities.

In my opinion, you go out there and just play games. Prove them wrong, each and every week. You know all he could do is control what he can control. That’s a fact and what he can control is going out there and balling, which is he doing. You know, whether the team at the end of the season is successful or not or like how many wins or not.”

“If he has a, uh, you know if he has another great year, that’s another great year. And then now you’re in a position where you got to either franchise tag them if they can’t lose them. I don’t see like that’s the Ravens quarterback, yeah. I don’t see nobody else coming in, and you have to change everything up, and so you know I’m praying for him.”

Lamar Jackson wants a guaranteed payout from unsure Ravens

Jackson is playing his 5th season on his rookie contract. And it is a situation he has been trying to resolve for a while. Earlier in the preseason, contract negotiations with the Ravens stalled when both parties couldn’t agree on guaranteed payment terms. Reportedly, the shot caller wants the full contract amount guaranteed, while the Ravens would much rather prefer performance-based payouts.

Watch This Story: Nothing short of a tragedy: What just happened with Lamar Jackson’s contract

Jackson’s last two games were spectacular, especially the one against Bill Belichick’s Patriots. And speculations are that the Ravens will have to shell out much more than what they offered earlier. Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe thinks Jackson is definitely in a position to demand as high as $300 million guaranteed.

What is guaranteed, though, is that Jackson’s contract negotiations will be a spectacular show. Complete with fireworks, and the sort. Will we see Jackson in a new kit next season?
