NBA Fans Despondent As NFL Gets Three Games on Christmas Day; Others Call For Players to Get More Family Time During Holidays

In a recent announcement, the NFL declared that there would be three games played on Christmas Day this year. Notably, this will be the first time in history that three NFL games will be played on 25th December.

Earlier, the NBA organized games on everyone’s favorite holiday. Unsurprisingly, the matches held on Christmas achieved good TV ratings every year. However, the NFL also putting games on the same day will result in some drop in ratings.

So far, we haven’t heard anything from NBA representatives. However, it will be a significant concern for the league. As a result, we might see some aggressive moves from the NBA to compensate for the drop in their ratings.

NBA fans worldwide have not welcomed the new idea of the National Football League. Notably, they think that Christmas Day should be reserved for basketball only; primarily because this has been in their culture.

The NBA used to get Christmas Day, while the National Football League had Thanksgiving Day. A break in this trend might change the stance of the NBA as well. The Basketball league might try to put some games on Thanksgiving Day to compensate for the loss on Christmas.

NBA fans and journalists were quick to react to this announcement. Even though they think the ratings will not drop, they don’t like to share Christmas Day with football. People expect NBA commissioner Adam Silver to react hard to this announcement by their counterpart.

People emphasize players will be unable to get rest during the holiday

The announcement made by the league received mixed responses. Many fans were happy as they would be able to watch their favorite sport on their favorite holiday. However, some weren’t happy because their favorite players won’t get a chance to be around their families on Christmas.

NFL players aren’t accustomed to being away from their families on Christmas. Notably, it will be interesting to see how the players respond to it. The teams which will play on Christmas haven’t been revealed yet.
