Jets Rookie Zach Wilson’s Recent Comments Might Not Go Down Well With Aaron Rodgers

The New York Jets drafted themselves, Zach Wilson, with the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. The expectation is that he will someday emulate the success of quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady and guide his side to Super Bowl.
And boy do the Jets need a savior. The franchise last had a franchise quarterback in Joe Namath. Broadway Joe to this day remains the only Jets QB to have ever reached a Super Bowl and win it. And that was back in Super Bowl III.

With the expectations of an entire franchise resting on his shoulders, Wilson knows that he’ll have to deliver big. And it seems that the rookie isn’t afraid to call out a few veterans despite not having played a single snap in the league.

Talking to Heavy.com, Zach Wilson was asked which quarterback he wishes to emulate as he proceeds to play his first-ever NFL season. While Wilson picked Brady, he didn’t seem to give up on the chance to throw some shade at Aaron Rodgers at well.

“Brady, in my opinion, is the greatest of all time, I mean I don’t think you can argue that. Wherever he’s at, they’re winning. I’ve always been a Rodgers guy because of the flashiness, but the thing that’s important in the game is winning, right?” said Wilson.

It is true. Not only Rodgers, but no one can quite compete with the staggering number of wins and trophies Tom Brady has collected over the years. And thus Wilson said he’d much rather be a Brady than an Aaron Rodgers.

“This is a team sport and it’s all about winning. It’s not how cool a throw looks or anything like that, so he’s definitely been a favorite to watch growing up and I think that’s just because of the way he does it.”
Aaron Rodgers isn’t a pushover himself. A Super Bowl winner and the reigning league MVP, Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the league right now.
