The star quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens is awaiting a guaranteed contract. It has become the longest-running story in the league. Lamar Jackson, the 2019 MVP winner, waits as the Ravens take their time putting the franchise tag on him. What Jackson wants is a hefty contract similar to the Browns QB, Deshaun Watson. But it looks like the team is not interested in offering that kind of money to him. Therefore, even the NFLPA joined the discussion of his contract fiasco.
Deshaun Watson signed a blockbuster deal with the Browns. Cleveland gave him a fully guaranteed five-year deal that was worth a whopping $230 million. The shockingly lucrative contract put the market on reset. In other words, this allows shot-callers like the Heisman Trophy winner to hold firm in negotiations.

Jackson is a pending free agent who played his five-year rookie contract. Baltimore offered him a contract that would pay him $50 million each year. But it was not a fully guaranteed contract, and that is what the 26-year-old wants. Therefore, in order to keep him motivated, the NFLPA advised him to ask for a contract that shows his value. Also, Dov Kleiman on BroBible reported, they do not want the quarterback market to go backward.

Jackson is one of the most successful WB in the league who got drafted in 2018. The league named him Pro Bowl twice and was successful in leading his team to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons.

Jackson publicly accepted that he wants to play with the Ravens for the entirety of his career, though things are messy because it looks like the team is not ready to pay him the kind of compensation he wants them to. And trading Jackson is painstakingly difficult. There are hundreds of people who wear No. 8 and see him as a hero. He is a popular, well-liked, and beloved athlete in the city.
