NFL News: Packers GM Doubles Down on Desire to Keep Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay

Aaron Rodgers has had enough. Ahead of the NFL Draft, news broke that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t want to return to Green Bay next season.
After several years of not making it past the NFC championship game, perhaps Rodgers doesn’t see much of a future in Green Bay.
However, his relationship with the franchise is at a delicate place right now. Despite this, the Packers do not want to give him just up yet.

Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst spoke to Peter King about the Aaron Rodgers situation. He noted that the Packers are going to keep Aaron Rodgers because they want him to continue.
He believes that the relationship between the two sides is fine. Furthermore, Gutekunst revealed that he had received an inquiry from a potential suitor, but he turned them down because they want to retain the star.

“No, I don’t think so at all. That’s my opinion and that’s the organization’s opinion. We want Aaron to be our quarterback. We’re pretty resolute with that…We want to leave every avenue open for that to happen…
“I had no (trade) discussions with any team. I received one call from a team Thursday night after all the news came out. I said no. That was the end of the conversation.”
Packers want to keep Aaron Rodgers
Gutekunst added that the Green Bay Packers are committed to improving the relationship with Rodgers, which has fallen to the wayside over the last few years.
He exhibited great optimism about regaining the fruitful relationship between the two parties. However, one has to wonder whether the damage has already been done.
