Dak Prescott led the Dallas Cowboys to a slow start during the Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers. And in the end, it all boiled down to just a few yards that cost them the whole season. The Cowboys, though had a great regular season, couldn’t manage a win against the Niners in the playoffs. And the NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, also a die-hard Cowboys fan, had enough of it.

Shaq, during his recent episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, reveals that he was not at all happy with the outcome of the game. He was, in fact, very much discontented with the officiating crew for the controversy created in the end and, also with the quarterback, for not playing his best.

The episode started with the NBA legend commenting on the referee’s interruption to the game, saying it was the official’s fault that the Cowboys were denied their last snap. Shaq then brought to light the lacking performance of the quarterback Dak Prescott, which, as a result, led to the Cowboys trailing the Niners by 23-7 at one point of the game. While talking about pointing fingers, the conversation soon drifted towards coach Mike McCarthy.

Shaquille O’Neal goes bitter on Dak Prescott

“There are fingers being pointed in the direction of Mike McCarthy because there’s a lot of people saying ‘he’s not the coach you need, he’s not the coach that’s gonna get you where you need to be,'” the podcast host Nischelle Turner said. “And let me just say this, I was watching him during the game, and this is what I saw. Arms folded just standing there. He doesn’t call plays.”

“First of all, stop it, stop it,” the 49-year-old basketball legend interrupted her. “I learned from the great Phil Jackson, ‘you gotta get it done.‘” Shaq referred to his former Los Angeles Lakers coach to explain that it’s not the coach’s job to make the plays; it’s the players’ job.

“It’s not about the coach. It’s about the players,” Shaq continued. “The coach is just there to prepare you lets you know what the other team’s gonna do. But you as an individual gotta go out and play. If you need another man to motivate you at home, your a*s ain’t ready anyway.”

Shaq, though, spoke some bitter words for the quarterback, but does it hold some degree of truth to it? Dak had the advantage of the home field, yet he failed to lead his splendid Cowboys to the Divisional Round. What are your thoughts on Shaq’s comments? Let us know in the comments below!
