Not a single press conference goes by where Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady doesn’t have to answer a question or two about his imminent retirement. And at this point, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has developed a certain skill in answering the questions without really putting a date to his playing career in the NFL. Recently, Brady had to do it again, and he explained what keeps him going at 45.

Currently, in his 23rd season in the league, Tom Brady said that it’s all about the love of the sport. Reporters asked Brady about how much longer he can go and if the thought of an ending is more on his mind now than before. And the former New England Patriots QB reiterated his no-retirement plans again, albeit in different words.

“We can’t do it forever, obviously. But you do it if you enjoy it and love competing. You know you love playing the game. And I certainly do. I’ve been in the sport for a long time. I think it’s a great sport,” 15x Pro Bowler Tom Brady said. At 45, Brady is showing no signs of slowing down, having won his last Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the age of 43. And TB12 thinks that it has much to do with the prevalent sports culture present in America.

Brady applauded the contribution of sports in bringing people closer. The five-time Super Bowl MVP also spoke about the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar and its effect on the global population. Sports run in every American household and Sunday Night Football is something unmissable. “That’s what people do in America,” Tom Brady said. And he will continue to entertain the masses every week till he has it in him.

Even after retirement, Brady will not leave the NFL. Fox Sports signed the quarterback on a 10-year $375 million contract to join their sports analysis and broadcasting desk. TB12 even has an official invitation to join the Fox team at this year’s Super Bowl even if the Buccaneers don’t make it.

Brady won 6 Super Bowls with the New England Patriots before winning his last one at Tampa Bay. And after a much-publicized divorce, presumably, because of his decision to not retire, Tom Brady only has his sight on that eighth ring for now. They are 6-7 this season and face Joe Burrow‘s formidable 9-4 Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday.
