Tagovailoa recommends the thriller

During the presser on Wednesday, the QB gave a shoutout to the Hollywood indie ‘Sound of Freedom’.Starring Passion of Christ fame, Jim Caviezel in the lead role, the movie recounts the story of a federal agent who embarks on a mission against a sex-trafficking ring in Columbia. 

The QB who said he loved watching the Christopher Nolan masterpiece Oppenheimer, gave a ringing endorsement to the Indie movie’s growing popularity.

“Sound of Freedom’ is good. Yeah, ‘Sound of Freedom’ is definitely really good. You guys should watch that. Especially you guys with kids.”, he said.

Directed by Alejandro Monteverde, the movie made on a humble production cost of $14.5 million hit the screens on July 4. The movie failed to make an impression slumping on the $3.6 million mark within two days after its release. However, the movie gradually ascended the ladder and went on to snag $40.2 million by the weekend, breaking the  $100 million mark within mere two weeks. It has now grossed $174 million in the U.S. alone.

Completing its fourth week, the movie surpassed the collection rates of Mammoth productions including Tom Cruise’s $290 million dollar -worth “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One,” which tallied less than $140 million since its July 12 release. It earned $4.8 million over the last weekend, outpacing the Tom Cruise spy thriller by $0.1 million. 

However, as the sleeper hit amassed views, it also found itself in the crosshairs of controversies.

The film’s star sparks controversy

The movie has garnered a fair share of criticism while racking up views. Many critics expressed their dismay over the distorted portrayal of trafficking.

The lead actor in the movie Jim Caviezel also added the fuel who endorses conspiracies like QAnon, wading into it, dubbing it as a ‘good thing’ during a promotional visit at a podcast. The movie drew attention when certain conservative circles rallied to endorse the movie and accused the delay in the movie’s public release was intentional to suppress its impact. President Donald Trump also held a private screening of the movie in New Jersey attracting attention, and escalating the movie’s intrigue.
