Van Jefferson Had to Witness His Son’s Birth Over FaceTime Thanks to LA Traffic

Wide Receiver Van Jefferson is observing the best season of his career as the LA Rams are triumphant in the LVI Super Bowl. On top of that, he and his wife Samaira are now endowed with a baby boy, going by the name of ‘Champ.’
Samaira was present at the SoFi Stadium to see her husband in the playoffs. However, during the fourth quarter, she went into labor and was taken to the hospital. She made sure that Van shouldn’t be informed if the baby arrives during the game.

After the Rams were victorious against the Cincinnati Bengals, the management instantly updated the athlete regarding his wife in labor, and he left the stadium with his daughter in a swoosh.
LA Traffic didn’t support Van Jefferson
Even though Van Jefferson left the stadium as soon as possible, he got horribly caught in the traffic at LA due to the Super Bowl, and he had to take some technological help to watch his wife Samaira give birth to their child.

The athlete sat down with Host Adam Schefter on ESPN’s The Adam Schefter Podcast, where he reveals he couldn’t make it to the hospital because of the hefty traffic crowd; and he watched his newborn baby on FaceTime.

He said that “So she was having the baby in Thousand Oaks; She wasn’t having it there like locally right there in LA, so I had to drive like an hour and 30 minutes to the birthing center.
Yes! Do you know how bad the traffic is in LA? Especially at the Super Bowl? Like we were literally stuck in traffic. So I had to watch the birth of my son over Facetime.”

Von’s Crazy FaceTime Struggle
Schefter asked Jefferson regarding the birthing experience over FaceTime, to which he called being a crazy one. He brings up that someone face timed him and he panics when he sees the glimpse at first, and hung up the call in an instant.

He realized on the second call that it was his wife and she was giving birth. Van’s kids, who were in the car, were speaking to their mother constantly as she was screaming due to pain.

As he was in the car, he was constantly asking over the video call if Samaira was okay, as he hadn’t heard from her. He made it 30 minutes after the birth.

Van Jefferson had a big year alongside the Rams, who drafted him in the year 2020. The athlete finished his 2021 run, having 802 receiving yards, 50 receptions, and six touchdowns. He also engraves a Super Bowl Ring in his name and is now celebrating the birth of ‘Champ’ Curtis Jefferson.
