‘Winning Is All That Matters’- Geno Smith Looks Ready To Take Over As Seahawks’ QB1

Geno Smith has been an anonymous name in the Seattle Seahawks roster as a backup QB, for Russell Wilson’s durability, has lasted since the day he got drafted. However, with Wilson’s gruesome finger injury against the Rams, it gives Smith a chance that he might be more than just a backup for the Seahawks.

Geno has already set the bar high for himself after he delivered a miraculous cameo in the fourth quarter against the Rams. Everyone from the teammates, the coaching staff to Lumen Field Stadium, had only one name to chant, “Geno” while he set the gridiron on fire, but failed to cover up the lead taken over by the Rams.

Although this might not be his last chance to prove his mettle, as a day after the game, the Seahawks issued a medical statement on Wilson’s injury, and it doesn’t seem good at all. With an extensor tendon rupture and a comminuted fracture-dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal joint, it will sideline the star quarterback for at least a month.

During Russell‘s absence, the QB1 spot will most certainly be handed over to none other than Geno Smith. And with this, his idle participation as a QB2 of the Seahawks comes to an end. Geno, who has already displayed the kind of footballing acumen he possesses late against the Rams, will go full throttle against the Steelers next week.

The Seahawks shared a tweet on Friday, addressing the tremendous spell of 10-to-17 pass attempts with 131 yards covering by the backup, with the caption, “@GenoSmith3 showed out tonight despite the circumstances. Respect.“

And Geno took this opportunity to express his aspirations by replying, “Love this team! Love this city! Winning is all that matters. Let’s get back to work.” Geno has been very faithful to the Seahawks throughout his years with them.

As the Seahawks face the Roethlisberger-led Steelers in Heinz Field, Geno will give no room to his doubters and will step up to the expectations.
