Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota is not having the best of seasons, and his team is also enduring a mixed season so far. On Thursday night, the Falcons played against the Panthers and suffered a pretty bad loss.

Although the Falcons lost the game, everyone else is talking about one particular play by Mariota, where he tried an outrageous pass. Since then, the clip went viral on social media, as the NFL world is making fun of the Falcons quarterback for trying to replicate the Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

NFL world makes fun of Marcus Mariota and his outrageous play against the Panthers

Notably, the 29-year-old QB Mariota was attempting a pass to one of his teammates and the Panthers linebacker Frankie Luvu tripped him. As he was falling, he did not touch the ball on the ground and attempted a pass while still lying on the ground.

After seeing that clip, the NFL world started mocking him, as they compared him with Mahomes, as he has a reputation for doing some outrageous flicks and tricks during games. One Twitter user wrote:

The Chicago Bears journalist Brendan Sugrue had a hilarious comment, as he tweeted:

Former NFL player Ross Tucker also made fun of the Panthers QB for trying to be like Mahomes.

Fantasy football analyst Michael F. Florio used a fake Michael Jordan picture to troll Mariota.

Meanwhile, many fans also made fun of him as one fan gave him a new name after that play.

Meanwhile, one fan took a dig at Mahomes and the fans for trying to promote the Chiefs QB all the time.

Meanwhile, the Falcons suffered their second loss in a row after losing against the Chargers last Sunday. Notably, the Falcons won a thrilling game in overtime against the Panthers at the end of October. Now, the Panthers got their revenge against the Falcons.

On the other hand, this loss will cost them in the playoffs, as they have now lost 6 out of 10 games played. Currently, they are in the second position in the NFC South division, behind Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are also not having a great season. However, they still have a player like Tom Brady, who could prove decisive for them.

With the Bucs trying to qualify for the playoffs, it will be tough for Mariota and the Falcons to reach there in this current season.
