The Minnesota Vikings went into halftime against the Indianapolis Colts with a 33-point unanswered. No franchise had ever overturned such a deficit in the history of the NFL. But something changed during halftime and the fans saw an entirely different performance from the Vikings and their QB Kirk Cousins in the second half. And head coach Kevin O’Connell shed some light on what transpired in the locker room that prompted a historic comeback victory for Minnesota.

What started to look like a blowout in the first half turned out to be the game for the history books in the league.

What happened in the locker room?

The Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell revealed the conversation between the team in the locker room at halftime of the week 15 clash. He said cornerback Patrick Peterson told the offense that they need just five touchdowns to win the game.

“I’ll never forget it as long as I live,” O’Connell said in the post-game press conference. “I walked out to address the team before we went back out there, and I just overheard him walk over to the offense and say, ‘We’re gonna get stops. You just need five touchdowns. That’s nothing.’ It was a nice little moment to lead in off of, and I said, ‘Pat, you’re exactly right.’ That’s what we needed at the time,” O’Connell added.
