QBs are the new targets of media bullies. The New York Jets‘ QB Zach Wilson and New York Giants’ QB Daniel Jones have fallen victim to these media bullies due to their rocky starts of the season. While the athletes are not new to heavy criticism from analysts and fans alike, they are new to someone taking up a stand for them. And that person being one of their own past opponents, Micah Parsons, has been of even more surprise.

Jets’ QB Wilson faced the most criticism after he gave a brilliant performance with astounding statistics that no other QB has ever recorded. Yet, retired safety Rodney Harrison called him ‘garbage’. Meanwhile, Jones faced a lot of hatred from fans after his team lost badly against the Seattle Seahawks 24-3. But Parsons wasn’t the one to just stand and laugh off the comments on his fellow players.

Micah Parsons takes a stand for Wilson and Jones

The two-time All-Pro Cowboys‘ linebacker, Micah Parsons, voiced out his displeasure about the bullies going around the QBs. “I just feel like so many times the media just always throws out negative things on certain players. I just think it’s almost like bullying online. We’re just being social media bullies,” said Parsons.

About the ‘garbage’ comment, he said people with the platform should be respectful and more humane towards a player who is giving his best. He added that they don’t know what the journey of the player has been. Also, these comments often have a negative impact on the player’s mind, affecting his performance indirectly.

“I think it is worse from a former player because you should know better than anyone how it goes, how you’re treated, how things can be misinterpreted. Perspective of the judgment is what I’m talking about,” added the linebacker.

When talking about Jones, he had a similar standpoint. He mentioned that Jones alone had to face five to eight defensive linemen single-handedly. This is an impossible task even for most professional athletes. While many people might think there might be some hidden motive behind Parsons standing up for the QBs, it’s actually a very personal motive.

Micah went through something similar

Back in 2021, when Parsons was selected as 12th overall out of Penn State, he too had to face a ton of online criticism. The times were too tough for him as he was wrongly sued, which was later dismissed. Hence, he admitted that his empathy is with Wilson and Jones, as he knows what bullying feels like after his draft night.
