As the regular 2020 season winds down, the fate of a lot of the divisions have been sealed. With teams scampering to get a better playoff seed, the race is as tight as ever. However, the NFC East remains vacant, but weirdly almost none have looked remotely interested in winning it either.

Christened by many as the worst division in the league’s history, 3 teams remain in contention for the top spot and ticket to the Playoffs. The Washington Football Team (6-9), Dallas Cowboys (6-9), and the New York Giants (5-10).

All 3 teams have a losing record, and regardless of the outcome in Week 17, they will end the season with a losing record. The Washington Football Team are the current favorites to clinch the division. They have been so for a couple of weeks now.

But the Washington-based outfit just can’t seem to get past the final hurdle. A win in their final game against fellow division rivals Philadelphia Eagles will be enough to get the job done.

Their game against fellow rivals the New York Giants is a must-win as well. But they’ll also have to count on an Eagles win over Washington to sneak their way into the Playoffs.

A similar road to the Playoffs beckons the Giants. They too need a win against the Cowboys to take the top spot. But they don’t control their own fate either and will have to rely on an Eagles win to make the Playoffs.

A wild ending for a wild division

While some would want Washington to clinch the title because of their stellar D-line and the resurgence of Alex Smith, the Cowboys or Giants sneaking into the playoffs would be a great way to lift the spirits of fans, players, and coaches alike who have endured a difficult season.

Regardless, the division might go down in history as one of the worst on paper, but it certainly promises to give us an enthralling final week of regular season football.
