Buccaneers’ Veteran Player Ndamukong Suh Not Ready to Retire

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still reeling from their euphoric Super Bowl win. The Buccaneers defeated the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs in their own stadium to lift the Lombardi trophy.
Despite the heroics of Tom Brady, everyone acknowledges that it was a team effort from the Buccs. However, one veteran isn’t ready to ride off into the sunset just yet.
Buccaneers veteran Ndamukong Suh spoke to Sports Illustrated recently. He revealed that despite his age, he still doesn’t want to retire. He feels as though he has a lot to give to the sport and the team.

He wants to come back next season and help the team go back-to-back and win another Super Bowl. He revealed that he and Tom Brady had a conversation about his future with the team.
“My goal is to come back and have an opportunity to go win another championship,” Suh said. “Me and Tom (Brady) spoke the other day about that opportunity, as well as with Jason Licht.
“I don’t know if you saw our parade celebration on that podium, coach (Bruce Arians) said I’m not going anywhere, and he’s usually a man of his word.”

Ndamukong Suh ready to contribute for the Buccaneers
Suh added that he is counting the day until the next season. Despite his tenured career, he has some excellent play left in the tank and wants to help the team achieve its goals.

“So I look forward to the opportunity to continue to play, especially for Tampa. And I honestly believe I have a lot of elite, great talent left in me to play. I’m not ready to hang them up yet.”

If Suh chooses to return next year, he must take a pay cut. Last season, he earned $8 million. But given the fact that the Buccaneers need to bring back several free agents, he will have to take a smaller stack to help keep the team under the salary cap.

However, given how motivated he is to return to the team, it should not be too difficult to convince him to take a significant salary cut.
