Gronk was going to team up with wrestler, Mojo Rawley, for different programs. Rawley talked about the possibility of him and Gronk going to fight in Saudi Arabia and then in Boston. From his words, Rawley was quite excited. Gronk was initially all in. However, something changed. When Gronk backed out, Rawley was very miffed. Gronk and Brady’s tag team
As Gronk was planning his professional wrestling debut, Tom Brady decided to come out of retirement for his 21st season and pursue a ring at Tampa Bay. Brady wanted his trusty tight end by his side. So as Brady called for Gronk, the tight end went on to join him at Tampa Bay for their last dance. Rawley spoke about how Gronk got a message from his quarterback asking him to return and how Rawley was with him at the time. Rawley also mentioned the terms of the tight end’s contract and said, “Rob had, I believe, $10 million or more on the table to go back for one season left on his contract, and it was a no-brainer.”
Subsequently, Gronk heading to Tampa Bay and playing with the Bucs worked out for the best. The tight end scored 6 touchdowns, had 802 yards, and ended the season with a Super Bowl championship. While it all worked out for the best, Gronk’s fans undoubtedly were waiting for his pro-wrestling debut.
