The 2022 Honda Classic is currently underway at the PGA National. Notably, during round one, players were spotted wearing purple ribbons that had Rosie written across it. Notably, this was done to honor the legendary golf journalist Tim Rosaforte, who, unfortunately, passed away on January 11th.

Tim passed away earlier this year after losing the fight to Alzheimer’s. Certainly, the entire golfing world felt the impact of this grave loss, as the players paid tribute to one of the great voices in golf.

“Tim has been such a vital part of the history of The Honda Classic from his work as a writer and broadcaster to the emcee of so many of our pro-am dinners and sponsor events,” said the Honda Classic executive director last year. “It is only fitting now that he has retired from broadcasting that we find ways to honor him for his years of service to the game and to the community.”

Since purple is the official color for the Alzheimer’s awareness movement, the players chose to wear this particular color ribbon on their hats.

As for golf, the 2022 Honda Classic round one had an interesting start. Kurt Kitayama leads the event with a score of -6. However, the Slovakian Rory Sabbatini is just behind him with a score of -5.
