Plans for Sami Zayn’s WWE Return Revealed

Sami Zayn is one of the most charismatic performers WWE has in its roster. The Canadian wrestler dominated NXT and had just begun his reign as an Intercontinental Champion weeks before WrestleMania.
However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, Zayn, just like many other WWE stars, decided to avoid the risk of infection by showing up to WWE TV tapings. He made this decision following WWE’s announcement that gave the talent the option to stay at home.
Zayn’s decision didn’t impress the management. In addition, it prompted the company to strip the star of his title and have an 8-man tournament to determine the new champion. Zayn wasn’t happy with WWE’s call and posted several tweets claiming he was still the champion.
Journalist Dave Meltzer, however, shed some light on the future of the championship and Sami Zayn. He revealed some information that will undoubtedly please the star.
Here is what the Cageside Seats have stated on the matter, “The expectation is Sami Zayn will work a program with whoever wins the Intercontinental championship tournament, per The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.”
Sami Zayn and the future IC champion confirmed?
This revelation by Meltzer is surprising, to say the least. Everyone expected WWE to bury Sami upon his return by not giving him the championship.
One reason for the company to have reportedly come to this decision might be to maintain a positive image. They could face criticism if they bury Sami after his return as a punishment and warning to others.
IC Championship Prediction
This has made the Intercontinental Championship predictable in a way because of the heel persona that Zayn sports. In wrestling, it is almost always the heel and the face who collide. Therefore, the fans can expect a babyface to triumph at Backlash.
The first semi-final will witness Daniel Bryan take on Jeff Hardy. While the second one will be between AJ Styles and Elias. It would be a no-brainer to back Styles in his fight because he is the heel.
However, as the second semi-final has two babyfaces throwing down, it will be comparatively trickier to predict. But it seems like Hardy will overcome his adversary.
All the fans can do is wait for Sami Zayn to return to know the fate of the Intercontinental Championship.
