PS5 Retailer Reportedly Cancels Restock as Fans Get Into a Brawl

It won’t be an exaggeration to say the PS5 has become a luxury ever since its release in November 2020. This is primarily a result of Sony’s supply shortage, and a plethora of scalpers. Naturally, this has further led to frustration among the fans who’ve been waiting to get their hands on the console for months now.
Recent reports suggested the PS5 restocks led to an increase in physical games sales in the UK. The scalpers could not overbuy the restock this time around, and a lot of actual fans finally got their hands on the new-gen console. However, it seems like retailers in Japan are still struggling to maintain peace with thousands of customers that share a common objective.

They cancelled the sale due to people being insane!! Pushed so hard even the cash registers and staff went backwards. I've never seen that kind of insanity in japan before…

Japan is best known for its peaceful culture, and to say the least, the aforementioned incidents are unfortunate.
It is worth noting that the demand for the PS5 is way higher than its supply across several regions in the world. This is not exclusive to Japan, as the new restocks get exhausted within minutes, even in the USA and the UK.
Just like Sony, Microsoft has also failed to satisfy the demand for the Xbox Series X/S. Moreover, it has claimed that the supply for both the consoles will not get better before the start of the new financial quarter.
