The Xfinity race at Daytona was mostly about women making history. The two women- Natalie Decker and Hailie Deegan– starting the race, marked the first time two women who started a NASCAR Xfinity race since Jennifer Jo Cobb and Milka Duno pulled it off at Kansas in 2014. Cobb finished 24 and Duno 40th. And this is the time people would be showing their appreciation and love to the two over social media sites and while seeing them.

However, on the flips side, Natalie Decker confessed that she was previously quite scared of the $41 billion platform. And while she currently is enjoying it, just some time back she was intimidated by the same.

Natalie Decker says social media has become a therapy for her

Recently, Natalie Decker made a post on Twitter that apparently took a dig at Elon Musk, saying, “I have been scared to be on this app for a long time because it’s a very negative place… BUT this app has slowly become therapy for me… So be prepared to be sick of me on here.” Evidently, she has had an account for a long time but it was just recently that she started posting on Twitter frequently. It seems she has always thought of Twitter as a place where people can say anything and everything about anyone and that’s why she wanted to stay away from all the drama.

As a reply to that, the host of SiriusXM Radio said, “The only opinions that matter are the opinions of people you respect. Cling to those and let the rest go,” aimed to boost her confidence about using Twitter. And frankly, she does not need to be scared of anything, especially after becoming the first woman to lead Xfinity series race since Danica Patrick in 2013. Natalie Decker led seven laps during the United Rentals 300, which is definitely earning her a lot of fame.

Even Xfinity Series official page on Twitter wrote: “With seven laps led at @DAYTONA , @NatalieRacing is the first woman to lead an Xfinity Series race since @DanicaPatrick in 2013.” 

Later, during her post-race interview, Natalie Decker shared her racing experience after a tough time on the track.

Talking to Toby Christie during the post-race interview, Natalie Decker tried to motivate everyone by saying that one should never give up on their dreams, despite not finishing top-15. She said, “When things are going wrong and you want to give up, don’t give up because the last three years were really hard on me and tonight was the turnaround. I just want to say to anyone who’s listening, if you feel like giving up, don’t because it took me three years to get back to the racetrack and I am so happy to be here.”

While she confessed going to the track wasn’t always a good experience for her, it has become one courtesy of her sponsors and partners. She said, “But 90% of going to the racetrack sucked and felt like absolute sh*t. So, to feel this good coming into a sketchy situation where it could rain and we might not make the race, having the energy of the sponsors and team that believe in me, I already felt a 100 times better.”
