The Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team are eager to wrest both championships from Mercedes’ grasp and are taking every step. The good news is that the team’s 2020 chassis has passed the crash tests with flying colours. What this also means is that Ferrari is on schedule to unveil their latest beast on February 11.

The fifteen tests required by the FIA to green light each team’s chassis for the coming season, were successfully passed. These tests took place at the CSI ‘Certification & Testing’ centre in Bollate, just outside Milan.

The project codenamed ‘671’ is now ready for the official name of the single-seater on 11 February. According to Motosport.com Italy, Ferrari is the second team to pass the 2020 crash test. The first ones to pass the test was the Racing Point team, as they set about working hard on their own 2020 car.

However, it was not all good news for every F1 team. This was because Alfa Romeo failed the frontal test and they will have to go back to the drawing board.

To further prove that they are serious about challenging for the 2020 title, Ferrari is prepared to invest more money into the F1 team.

What have Ferrari said?

Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri, told Autosport at a media lunch that Ferrari faced a “record” financial year. He mentioned that it included the launch of the SF90 Stradale hybrid.

He declared, “We are one company and the car business funds Mattia’s business”.

“We’re also prepared to invest. And luckily the car business can support those investments, not only in terms of people, but also in terms of infrastructure.”

They Italian marquee recently gave Charles Leclerc a new long-term contract. In addition to that, they retained Pascal Wehrlein’s services as their development driver.

Camilleri admitted that if the team wants to succeed, they need stability, so that they can challenge Mercedes and Red Bull.
