Recently, there was an incredible announcement of the return of a former tennis player on Tour. Gail Falkenberg will be making her return on Tour at the age of 76 years!

As shocking as the news is, it is also a much-needed positive story in these dreary times.
Gail will be playing in the ITF 125 event held in Naples, Florida. The tournament is scheduled to begin on the 3rd of May and will end on the 9th of May. Falkenberg will play in the qualifying round in order to proceed into the main draw. She will face 20-year-old Tiphanie Fiquet in her opening round match.

Madrid Open has seen some big stars fall already
On the WTA circuit, players are currently in Madrid, competing at the first WTA 1000 clay-court event of the season. Stars like Naomi Osaka and Venus Williams have suffered early-round exits.
However, World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty and former Grand Slam champion Simona Halep are going strong in Madrid. Three-time champion Petra Kvitova is looking impressive too.
After their stint in Madrid, players will move towards Rome and will compete in the final WTA 1000 clay-court event of the season. American superstar Serena Williams is expected to resume her season in Rome. Following that, all focus will shift towards the second Grand Slam event of the season, the French Open.

Speaking about the recent tournaments, Australian tennis ace Ashleigh Barty won the Miami Open beating Canadian talent Bianca Andreescu in the final. Prior to that, Japanese starlet Naomi Osaka won her fourth Grand Slam title in Melbourne this year.
