Serena Williams Makes Minor Adjustments to Her Racquet Ahead of the US Open 2020

A racquet you could say is a tennis player’s best friend. And every player has a different racquet. Racquets can vary with head size, grip, string tension, etc. And a prominent name in Racquets is Wilson. And Wilson especially makes racquets for Serena Williams and Roger Federer. Recently Serena Williams revealed a prototype racquet from Wilson in the Australian Open. And now that prototype has become a final product and Serena has unveiled her new blade.
The new one is called ‘SW102 Autograph racquet’. The racquet has a smaller racquet head than her previous racquet. And Serena has co-developed it with Wilson to create the best tool for her game.

Serena spoke about her new on-court companion. She wanted more control from her racquet and so she asked Wilson to make some adjustments. And now she is really happy with the racquet and has adapted to it well.
“I love my previous Blade tennis racquet, and it’s been a huge part of my game, but I knew I needed to make adjustments. A tennis racquet is such a sensitive thing. I talked with Wilson about wanting more control and what that could look like, and importantly, feel like. So, we got to work. I am really into technology and trying new things out. And while the process was long, we ultimately designed exactly what I need for my game. I’ve had this new racquet in my hands for most of this year, and it just feels right.” Serena said

She did sport this racquet in the Australian Open. But did not perform as she would have hoped. Serena might have put in hours of practice and now would be accustomed to the new racquet. We will see her in the Cincinnati Open and the US Open and let’s see if she can finally complete her long-standing quest of a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam.
