Simona Halep Raises Doubts Regarding US Open 2020 Participation

After the cancelation of the Wimbledon, the news that the 2020 US Open would be happening came as a surprise. However, many players have pulled out of the event with others unsure of their participation. Potentially adding to the growing list of withdrawals from the event is two time Grand Slam Champion Simona Halep.

After being suspended for months, the WTA Tour has finally returned. The first event of the Tour was the Palermo Open which Simona Halep sadly withdrew from. However, she did sign up to play the doubles event at the Prague Open. Before leaving for the event, the Romanian gave a statement regarding the US Open. She said,
“At the moment, I’m not going to the US Open. It’s been a strange year, we have to get used to it. I really missed tennis, that’s why I signed up for the doubles event in Prague.”
