Ons Jabeur played one of the best match of her career as she defeated former champion, Garbine Muguruza in the third round of Wimbledon Championships 2021. While serving for the match, Ons Jabeur’s nerves were at an all-time high as she vomited before serving at the match point.
At 5-2 in the third set, Jabeur saw her first match point at 40-30. As she was getting ready to serve, she went to the corner of the court next to the ball kid and vomited there. There was no reaction from the chair umpire, crowd, or even Muguruza. Later, Jabeur served and Muguruza saved the match point. However, subsequently, Ons would get another match point, which she dispatched, and continued ahead at Wimbledon.
So nervous she just vomited before her first match point, Ons Jabeur converts her second with a nerveless rally to beat Garbine Muguruza 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

Why didn’t the chair umpire say anything to Ons Jabeur regarding vomiting?
But the rules say that the chair umpire doesn’t have to stop play if the vomit is not spilled on the court. So hence that might be the reason the chair umpire didn’t stop the play. However, the play would have been stopped if Ons Jabeur needed medical attention.
“If a player is vomiting, the Chair Umpire must stop play if vomiting has spilled onto the court, or if the player requests medical evaluation. If the player requests medical evaluation, then the Sports Physiotherapist must determine if the player has a treatable medical condition, and if so, whether the medical condition is acute or nonacute,” the Grand Slam rule book says.
