Since then, there has been a lot of talk going on regarding the four-time World Cup winners. But just moments after making the shocking claim, the legendary player hit back at all the critiques by channeling her inner Shannon Sharpe. 

Already, the criticism wasn’t enough for the American ladies following this year’s performance in the World Cup. Now, it’s a six-year-old match against a group of teenagers that has now forced Lloyd to fire a unique response. 

Carli Lloyd responds to critics through Shannon Sharpe

Hours ago, Lloyd was asked by a netizen on X if the USWNT had lost to a 15-year-old team. Interestingly, she didn’t hold back and admitted they lost 5-2 to the FC Dallas under-15 boys’. Furthermore, she also claimed to have lost against a youth Bayern Munich team in her career but then insisted she went on winning the Olympics and World Cups.

While one would appreciate her honesty, it somehow led Lloyd and the USWNT to garner uninvited criticism from the fans. This eventually forced her to dish out her response. Interestingly, she went to X and tweeted, “The only success someone can have is that they take a bite out of you. That’s their success. It’s about biting you. -Shannon Sharpe.”

Be that as it may, it is quite a bold response from the two-time World Cup winner. Interestingly, after accepting the defeat, she even took the time to praise the youngsters who made them taste the dust. 

Lloyd praised teenagers for defeating the USWNT 

After Lloyd cleared the air regarding the match against the youngsters, a netizen shared an old picture of her alongside one of the players from the Under-15 team. Shockingly, the teenager was almost a foot taller than the 5’5” Lloyd. Additionally, the netizen who shared the picture admitted the defeat isn’t surprising, given the physicality difference. 

This tweet was eventually retweeted as she couldn’t contain her laugh. She tweeted, “Haha. They should beat us. Bigger, stronger, faster! Boys always gave us a run for our money! It was great prep.” Indeed, it’s quite great to see her exhibit such sportsmanship and praise her opponents despite the loss.
