Former Atletico Madrid star Luis Garcia has stirred the pot of controversy with recent statements. The Spaniard claimed Lionel Messi was one of the deciding factors behind Antoine Griezmann’s failure during his time at FC Barcelona. However, the Frenchman had other views about La Pulga when he mentioned the Inter Miami superstar in a recent ESPN interview.

Griezmann was also been full of praise for Messi’s move to MLS. The Frenchman claimed that Messi’s addition will surely boost the sport in the United States. The player also added that he has dreams of going to play in the United States in the final years of his career.

Antoine Griezmann had to tread waters carefully as Luis Garcia’s recent statements were all over the internet before his interview with ESPN. However, the former Barcelona star was apparently prepared and quashed rumors of discord as he picked Lionel Messi for his technique while building his Ultimate Forward.

The French star during the segment also named some other top names such as David Beckham, Thierry Henry, and Cristiano Ronaldo amongst others while building his Ultimate Forward. The French striker has been close to the moniker for Atletico Madrid this season. On fire for the Rojiblancos, Griezmann has scored thirteen goals in his nineteen appearances for the side.

Griezmann has been very vocal about his admiration for Messi after settling his differences with the Argentine back in 2020. While the two players had a rough falling out after the Frenchman failed to deliver for Barcelona, the player has been singing praises after clearing out his misunderstanding with La Pulga.

He’s more than impressed with Messi’s MLS move, something he wants in the future for himself as well.

The Frenchman commented earlier this year that that Messi’s addition is a massive boost for the MLS and soccer in the USA. Griezmann stated,  “Leo Messi is one of the best players in history. All the stadiums fill up when he plays and, since he’s been in the States, he’s winning matches. I think they’re now in a final match against Nashville.”

“He’s an incredible player and I think the best thing that MLS has done is to sign up Leo for advertising and also for the sport’s quality. He can be the image of football in the United States.”

Later in the interview, the player also stated that he is in awe of the culture in the United States and would love to spend some years of his career playing in the MLS.
