It’s that time of the season when the squad can undergo some important makeovers in the January transfer window. Given their prospects, Al Nassr is trying to safeguard their talents from moving away. Despite many players liking the club’s environment, a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo rejected a $666k offer from the club. The Riyadh-based club has been attempting to secure a deal since the beginning of last December! Now the player’s future looks uncertain. What could the reason be for a player to reject playing alongside the Portuguese icon?

The club, after facing a lot of appreciation for bringing Cristiano Ronaldo in, is now on the verge of facing a major loss. Their in-house player, Ayman Yahya, has rejected the club’s latest attempt to extend his contract, according to media house Ariyadiyah. The talks happening over the past month look to be unsuccessful at the moment. In early December, the player received a proposal that was surprisingly better than the one currently offered. The initial offer made in December was $800,000 per year for three years.

But despite the player rejecting it, Al Nassr’s Chief Executive, Guido Fenga, chose to curb the price, making it $666,000 while increasing the contract duration by a year to four. The 23-year-old came into Al Nassr’s senior squad from the club’s under-23 setup in 2019.

The player was considered a highly talented prospect for the club at the time. Yahya has spent his time mostly on the bench this season, appearing only thrice in the starting eleven. However, Luis Castro still considers him valuable due to his versatility. The Portuguese coach can use him both as a backup for Sadio Mane and Anderson Talisca as well as a left-back.

An important period for Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. coming up

The player on the other side, however, doesn’t look too keen. He can pre-sign for any club on January 15th as he enters the final six months of his deal. The Saudi international has only scored a goal and provided four assists this season. His main contribution of two assists helped Al Nassr qualify for the AFC Champions League.

Al Nassr, on the other hand, is getting ready for a pretty hectic season ahead. Cristiano Ronaldo and the club have the Saudi Pro League as well as the AFC Champions League at stake. The team will also play friendlies in China and host the 2024 Riyadh Season Cup. Keeping in mind the importance of squad strength, Al Nassr would not want to lose to players like Ayman Yahya.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
