After the league game, the disciplinary committee was informed of the Portuguese superstar showing strange gestures to the opposition fans. After plenty of public chatter and critique from the fanbase on how Ronaldo could face action, the board’s verdict finally seems to involve a one-match suspension with dual fines for the star.

The decision is a setback to the Al Nassr camp as their captain is in fine form. Even though he’d be just away for one game the player is also set to pay two forfeitures. One is a sum of $2,666 to the account of the Saudi Federation, representing the fine, and another fine of $5322 to Al-Shabab, representing the costs of filing the complaint as reported by journalist Ahmed Aljadi on X. Additionally, the decision taken by the committee is indisputable.

Al Shabab reportedly accused the Al Nassr captain of showing unwanted gestures to the fans which included the pumping of his fist in an inappropriate way. Initially, the reaction was not captured by the broadcasting cameras but was later seen on social media. Al Shabab backed its complaint with video footage. The reaction from Cristiano Ronaldo was triggered by Al Shabab fans who chanted Messi‘s name after Al Nassr’s 3-2 win over their team.

Meanwhile, the player is continually being surrounded by such voices including Al Hilal fans who are taking the Argentine’s name. As per reports, even Al Nassr is taking note of such incidents to report them. However, currently, it is Ronaldo in the limelight who will miss the game against Al Hazm.

Considering the gesture to be improper, the 5x Ballon d’Or winner defended the action denying it to have any disrespect. Claiming that it was celebratory after the win, Cristiano Ronaldo said, “I respect all clubs, And the joy after the [game] expresses strength and victory, and it is not shameful. We are used to it in Europe.” The player was reportedly called by the committee to give his views before the verdict was given.
