English star Jordan Henderson has made one of the biggest decisions of this transfer window. The Englishman severed his ties with the Saudi side Al Ettifaq despite his cushy contract with the side. According to reports, Henderson is on his way to Amsterdam, with the midfielder currently in talks with Ajax over a potential transfer to the side. However, it seems like the Dutch side was not his first choice, with Henderson reportedly offering his services to Xavi’s Barcelona before turning his attention to Ajax.

Jordan Henderson had a rough time at Al Ettifaq as the player failed to make an impact on the team. A string of poor performances saw English fans turn on the player, questioning if the player still deserved a spot on the national team. Despite the criticism, it seems like Henderson is in no mood to bid adieu to his international career and will return to European soccer to keep his place on the team.

The midfielder, in an attempt to join Xavi’s men, offered his services to the Catalan club for a discounted price. Nonetheless, with the Spanish side struggling financially, meeting any of Henderson’s financial needs might have been a challenging ask for the Blaugrana.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta allegedly oversaw the whole deal. However, despite being interested in the player at first, Laporta ruled out the possibility after considering all factors. Henderson, after being ignored, is anticipated to fly to Amsterdam later this week to sign a new contract with Ajax, a team in the Eredivisie league.
