Ryan Reynolds-owned Wrexham recently demolished Barrow 4-1 in an EFL League Two match. 36-year-old striker Steven Fletcher’s hat-trick performance was at the heart of the Welsh side’s thumping victory. Even after such a stellar solo show, the veteran striker was awestruck by teammate Paul Mullin’s masterclass of a goal. Bewildered over Mullin’s long-range screamer, Fletcher couldn’t help but say it was stuff that he could ‘only dream of‘. Fletcher’s respectful gesture towards Mullin has surprised the Deadpool star Reynolds.

Towards the end of half-time, Wrexham won a free kick after a Barrow star brought down Elliot Lee. Paul Mullin stepped in and pulled the trigger from 30 yards. It looked like the ball was going over the top. But it dipped and hit the back of the net off the woodwork.

In his recent appearance on the EFL Podcast, Steven Fletcher revealed how he is still mesmerized over Paul Mullin’s 30-yard goal. “They can all put stuff on the ball that I could only dream of. The way they hit it and I’m like.. ‘how did you do…?’ The ball is going, it looks like it is going 30 yards over the bar and the next minute it dips under and you’re thinking that’s ridiculous,” said Fletcher. The 36-year-old’s adulation of Mullin caught Ryan Reynolds’ attention. He shared a snippet of Fletcher’s comments on his Instagram story and wrote, “Best dressing room on earth.”

The Red Dragons had first took a beating against Barrow. However, Fletcher’s equalizer gave the team an upping. Mullin took the momentum and delivered such a lethal free-kick the next minute and turned the table completely in Ryan Reynolds’ team’s favor. Thanks to the win against Barrow, Wrexham has now solidified themselves in the third position in the League Two table. Well, dominating the top three positions is indeed a dream run for the Welsh side, considering that they have returned to the League Two after a 15-year hiatus.

Rob and Ryan’s Red Dragons on a dream run

Wrexham is not even struggling a bit for a team that got promoted to a new league after 15 years. Instead, they are adding to rival’s struggles. The Deadpool star’s team is just two points shy of the League Two toppers Stockport. This means Wrexham surely has got a shot at going all the way and winning the League Two title, as the season is far from over. Hence, yet another promotion is knocking on the Dragons’ door.

If things go well, Rob and Ryan will go down as two of the best sports team owners in the recent times, if they are not already. Even if it is not for the win, the Welsh will always cherish these owners for their warm equation with the team’s locker room.

My journey as a sports aficionado was not colored by soccer initially. The 2006 FIFA World Cup, however, changed me, as I fell in love with the beautiful game. From cheering on Real Madrid to channeling an inner analyst with my pals during every other World Cup and kicking the ball timelessly, soccer is now a therapy for me with boundless conversations.
