Cristiano Ronaldo playing against Real Madrid and FC Barcelona as an Al Nassr player seemed a wild bit of imagination. Even a friendly fixture between Al Nassr and Spanish clubs sounded like a distant dream. But nevermore. Interestingly, the potential matchup between Al-Alami and the Spanish powerhouses will not even be a friendly but a competitive clash. But which scriptwriters are making this possible? Are the Saudis behind this? Let’s find out.

Al Nassr already has some exciting matches on their calendar. ‘The Last Dance’ which will see Lionel Messi and CR7 lock horns in an Inter Miami-Al Nassr matchup is one of them. Fuelling the frenzy, recent reports say Ronaldo might embrace the Spanish soil, representing Al Nassr.

According to Saudi Arabia-based journalist Ali Al-Harbi, the Spanish Football Federation mulls inviting Al Nassr to play against Real Madrid and Barcelona in 2024. Per the update, Al Nassr, Real Madrid, and Barcelona will face each other in a ‘mini-tournament.’ The Spanish Football Federation came up with this move to cater to the desire of fans in the region. Al Nassr last played against Real Madrid in 2008 in a friendly fixture. At that time, the Arab club had the last laugh, outclassing Madrid 4-1.

Before 2008, the two have once faced each other in the 2000 FIFA Club World Cup in Brazil. However, Al Nassr has never played against FC Barcelona. If the Spanish Federation’s plans pan out, the soccer world will get to witness that for the first time. In all likelihood, the Spanish Federation’s move is perhaps a sign of courtesy. Last year, the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh hosted Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana final. This time, the Riyadh Season will host the Spanish Supercup semi-finals and final.
