Al Nassr was left licking its wounds after the club was handed a massive loss at the hands of Al Ain last night. This has to be one of the roughest losses for Cristiano Ronaldo following his move to Al Nassr. Luis Castro’s men have been knocked out of the AFC Champions League clash following their defeat on penalties. CR7’s mother Maria was also in attendance as she took to her social media, posting an image from the Al Awwal Park all dripped in Al Nassr’s yellow.

The 69-year-old seemed quite excited, as she had a broad smile while posing in the premium lounge. In the caption she wrote, “I’m already here with my soul and heart. Come on boys @alnassr“. However, it seems her night might have ended consoling her son, who could go a 2nd consecutive season at Al Nassr without a major title. Following his move to Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo has lifted only the Arab Club Champions Cup during their pre-season in 2023. But this wasn’t the only issue as a viral report has been doing the rounds on the internet.

From the looks of it, Cristiano Ronaldo failed to deliver on his promise with Al Ain’s Khalid Hashemi. The player claims, “Cristiano Ronaldo told me they would win in the return leg in Riyadh“. Last night was surely a havoc, but what happened on the pitch? Let’s dive deeper.

10-man Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo crash out of the AFC Champions League

The loss has to hurt more for Cristiano Ronaldo as the player wasn’t at his best in front of the goal, missing crucial opportunities for his side. The Al Nassr skipper had the chance to put his team in the driving seat in the 67th minute but failed to score an open goal from just 2 yards outside the net, leaving everyone stunned. His miss allowed Al Ain to push Al Nassr onto the back foot as the side got one over Al Nassr’s goalkeeper, Al Najjar, who equally wasn’t having the best day between the sticks.

Before that Al Ain goal, Ayman Ahmed was sent off, making the night even more difficult for Al Nassr. However, with the game raging towards an extra-time win for Al Ain, Cristiano Ronaldo converted from the spot in the 118th minute to get the scores level 4-4 on aggregate, barely dragging the game to penalties. But the shootout turned out to be a nightmare for Al Nassr, as Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles, and Otavio missed their shots, leaving their side in the dust with Al Ain bagging a 1-3 win on penalties.
