The Saudi Super Cup match against Al Hilal has taken a turn for the worse for Al Nassr. In the ongoing match, Luis Castro’s side are not only trailing with 2 goals in the Riyadh Derby but are left with just 10 men on the pitch, as their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo, was sent off. In the face of receiving a red card, CR7 did the unexpected as he made offensive gestures against the referees to taunt them.

A viral clip is making the rounds on the internet. Just after receiving the red card, the Portuguese superstar left the pitch in disbelief, and while heading to the tunnel, the 39-year-old turned, pointed his fingers at the officials, and then clapped simultaneously for quite a while. He even stood and waved his hand to everyone present in the stadium, continuing to point out the referee while showing a big thumbs up to the chiefs of Al Hilal as well as the tournament’s committee present in the stands.

His reaction seems obvious, as he was perplexed by the referee’s controversial decision to send him off. Clearly, the former Real Madrid star forward wasn’t happy to see his side being left to just 10 men due to his absence. Notably, the red card was shown after Ronaldo had a tussle with Ali Albulayhi near the sidelines. The situation escalated further as the two had to be separated by players from both sides.

As if the last few minutes of the match weren’t filled with enough drama, Ronaldo also failed to help his side prior to his sending-off. In fact, it left his teammate very frustrated with him.

Cristiano Ronaldo playing style in the match frustrated his Al Nassr teammate

Cristiano Ronaldo became so overly absorbed in the match’s intensity that it resulted in a self-centered approach and missed opportunities. It even left his teammate Marcelo Brozovic visibly frustrated. In a viral clip, Ronaldo received the ball near the right corner of Al Hilal’s defense and attempted a shot with his weaker foot despite three defenders in the penalty box, but missed wide.

Interestingly, Brozovic reacted by waving his hands in frustration as Ronaldo fell. Notably, this wasn’t the first time Brozovic reacted this way; earlier, Ronaldo attempted another audacious left-foot shot from just ahead of the center half, eliciting a similar response from his teammate. While it was expected of him to buckle up in the remaining part of the game, he lost his chance, as now he will see the rest of the match from the bench.
