Al Nassr is on a purple patch of form, winning the last gives on the trot. They have regained their footing with superior recruitment quality and improved strategic positioning. Of course, Cristiano Ronaldo is at the heart of that following his stunning performances. He scored two goals against Al-Ahli, a side that signed world-class soccer players as well. Yet, the Portuguese skipper was out of the Team of the Week for Matchweek 7.

Ronaldo has earned numerous team of the week honors; however, despite his commendable performance, he was excluded. Similarly, he did not make the final cut for another prestigious individual award. Has he lost his charm?

Instead of CR7, other notable players like Riyad Mahrez, Moussa Dembele, and Georginio Wijnaldum made the cut. Mahrez scored a penalty goal for his side, Al-Ahli, in their match against Al Nassr. Ronaldo grabbed two goals in that game and ended up victorious with a scoreline of 4-3. Meanwhile, Dembele and Wijnaldum scored two goals in Al-Ettifaq’s 4-3 victory against Al-Ta’ee that propelled them into the Team of the Week. The snub of Ronaldo seems confusing because he put in a solid effort in the match.

His team is 5th in the Saudi Pro League standings with 15 points. Slowly, the team rediscovered their form and continuously produced improved performances under Luis Castro. The other players included in the best Matchweek 7 team are Bernard Mensah, Faycal Fajr, Hussain Al-Eisa, Ghislain Konan, Abdullah Al-Hafith, Farouk Chafai, Fawaz Al Soqoor, and Ibrahim Šehić.
