Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City expires in 2025. Guardiola reportedly plans to leave the club at that time without opting for a contract extension. Though the Spanish boss has spoken about coaching a national team after his Manchester stint, it is also not beyond him to take a break from management. Notably, the 53-year-old had taken a sabbatical before joining Bayern Munich after his Barcelona term. So, what will the two-time treble winner do if not for a coaching career? The man himself has teased about the same in a recent presser.

Roy Keane, a Manchester United star-turned-soccer pundit, recently blasted City’s Erling Haaland for a drop in his form. While speaking to the press before Wednesday’s game against Aston Villa, Guardiola said he disagrees with Keane. Speaking of pundits and their comments, a reporter asked the Spanish boss if he would ever become a soccer pundit. “It depends on the offer. If I have your salary, yes,” said Pep Guardiola jokingly. Adhering to his disagreement with the likes of Keane, Guardiola stressed he couldn’t comprehend why former players criticize fellow players.

“Journalism, I can understand. They have never been on the pitch. But the former players is always a surprise. It’s like the referees when they retire criticize the referees,” Guardiola added. “I’m not a guy who is going to criticize my colleagues when I retire… I could do it now, and I don’t do it. It’s easy just sitting. But everyone has to live, for something,” the Spaniard continued, carefully leaving his future options open. While he has not denied venturing into soccer punditry, it won’t be before exploring new challenges in his managerial stint. His respect for the game and his colleagues is evident in his words.
