Despite Fallout With Pep Guardiola, Joao Cancelo Names Manchester City Boss ‘Best Coach’ And Reveals Top 3 Players
Portuguese star player Joao Cancelo has opened up about the reports claiming him to have attitude while playing at Manchester City. Consequently, the current FC Barcelona loanee took a dig at Manchester City citing their claims as false. However, Cancelo still acknowledged Pep Guardiola’s ability as top-class before listing the players he feels are the best in the world.
Despite having an impressive spell in England, Joao Cancelo was sent away on a loan to Bayern Munich and later to FC Barcelona by Guardiola. Nevertheless, the full back has now confessed that the Spanish coach is the best in the world. In a recent interview, Cancelo was reported stating, “For me, [Pep] Guardiola is the best coach in the world.” Looks like both the player and the coach appreciate each other for their work.

Cancelo worked with Pep Guardiola for three and half years and won three Premier League titles despite moving away at mid-season last January. Apart from revealing the period to be enjoyable, Cancelo also stated that Pep Guardiola’s team is the favorite to win the UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, even Pep complimented the Portuguese international’s gameplay saying that he was an ‘incredible figure’ during his couple of earlier league-winning campaigns. Nevertheless, reports suggested that Cancelo was restless when being benched and his reactions were not pleasant. This was the reason reported for the player being loaned away.
But, this did not go well with the 29-year-old, who claimed that it was a lie. Cancelo also stated that he gave his best for the club citing an incident where he played a crucial game; the day after getting robbed. For him, the Sky Blues reacting in such a manner was highly disappointing. But the Portuguese defender still admires his teammates from the Premier League.

Joao Cancelo lists a few Manchester City colleagues as the best players in the world
It’s not just the manager, Cancelo felt that the club has few of the best players in the world. Listing Kylian Mbappe to be in the top three, Cancelo also reportedly said, “Mbappé is currently among the top three [players] in the world. I’m a fan of Bernardo Silva. I would also include [Erling] Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and Rodri [among the best],” praising colleagues from his parent club.
On the other end, Cancelo confessed to having a great time in Barcelona. Despite being a defender, he scored 4 goals and assisted in 4 proving his attacking mettle. The Catalan club even though lagging behind in the La Liga title race has reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. Overall, it looks like both Cancelo and the Manchester City coach are doing well in terms of soccer, however, whether they would reunite again has to be seen.
