As punishment for the unauthorized trip, the PSG owners suspended Messi for two weeks without wages. The Argentine soccer legend will face a monetary loss of about $1.7 million due to this suspension. Interestingly, this is also the first time the Qatari owners have taken such a drastic step toward a player. In retrospect, it hasn’t panned out really well. The Argentine also received severe criticism from the fans.
