In the world of soccer, rivalries and tensions are the norm. However, a recent feud between Accrington Stanley and Wrexham AFC has taken an unexpected turn, thanks to Accrington’s Chairman Andy Holt. After a resounding victory over Wrexham, Holt has directed his ire towards none other than Ryan Reynolds, for ticket prices and now for streaming their game.

The saga began when Accrington Stanley decided to raise their ticket prices for league games. The increase of £5 ($6.23) did not go unnoticed by Wrexham, who promptly responded by reducing their ticket prices for the home game against Stanley in March. This sparked a war of words on social media, with Andy Holt leading the charge.

Wrexham, previously on a 10-match undefeated run, was gearing up to face Accrington Stanley, hoping to extend their streak. However, their hopes were dashed when Stanley emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. In the aftermath of the game, Andy Holt took aim at Ryan Reynolds, mocking him for the defeat. But that is not the end of it.

Holt expressed his dissatisfaction with Wrexham’s decision to stream the game internationally, accusing them of not compensating Accrington Stanley, who hosted the match. On X, Holt wrote, “And @Wrexham_AFC streamed the match internationally, a match that WE paid for and hosted, without us receiving a single $cent”.

He went on to make further allegations, pointing “Under rules set by previous employee of @EFL who now works for Wrexham”. He ended by saying, “So don’t start me off,” and accompanied his message with two laughing emojis.

Although tensions between rival teams are a common sight in the soccer world, the involvement of a Hollywood personality like Ryan Reynolds adds a unique flavor to the feud. It remains to be seen whether this feud will fizzle out or escalate further. In the meantime, let’s delve into how Andy Holt taunted the Deadpool star following Wrexham’s defeat.

He also made light of Welcome to Wrexham, a documentary about the team, saying, “Get that on @netflix Ryan lad”.

To support his argument about high ticket prices, he shared a post on X demonstrating that even after an increase in costs, Accrington Stanley’s tickets are still cheaper than Wrexham’s regular season rates. With Accrington Stanley and Wrexham set to face each other in future games, the rivalry shows no signs of dissipating.
