However, the fans could look forward to another rivalry because of their exit from Europe and approaching retirement. One would expect the names of star forwards Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to pop up. Despite his recent trouble with injuries, Erling Haaland remains the joint-highest goal scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals. He has maintained a brilliant start to his career with Manchester City since arriving from Borussia Dortmund last season. However, former Los Blancos boss Fabio Capello feels that the 23-year-old forward is not one of the successors of Ronaldo and Messi. He said, “For me, the two footballers who are going to fight like Messi and Cristiano did are Mbappé and Bellingham. Further explaining his reason, he added, “The two of them have more technical quality than Haaland.”

But make no mistake about how Capello praised the Norwegian star’s impressive goal-scoring prowess. But, he said that Mbappe and Bellingham have all the qualities along with their goal-scoring ability, dribbling skills, and technical qualities. On the other side, he put the Norwegian forward in the category of a pure forward whose best role is playing number 9.

It will be interesting whether the Los Blancos legend stays committed to his opinion till the end or changes it this season. As far as Cristiano Ronaldo is concerned, he has also praised the Manchester City forward.

The Al Nassr star has shown support for Erling Haaland

Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland were present for the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. When he won the award for being the highest goal scorer of the year, in his speech, the Al Nassr star said he was proud of beating young world-beaters like the Manchester City striker at the age of 38. Even before the Men’s player of the year was announced, he pointed his fingers at Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland also received similar support from former players and media experts after he finished second in the Ballon d’Or race. Several are also of the opinion that the Manchester City striker deserved to win FIFA The Best Men’s award ahead of La Pulga.
