Jose Mourinho‘s Chelsea’s win against Liverpool in 2014 was one for the history books. Liverpool had then got so close to achieving their first Premier League title in 24 years. However, they blew that golden chance after losing 2-0 to Chelsea. The loss dawned at Anfield when Steven Gerrard slipped on field giving Chelsea a chance to take the lead in the first half. At death, Willian closed the match with another goal. As Mourinho now put it, the win was powered by an angst against the Premier League’s crammed schedule.

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea awaited a UEFA Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid. The team needed ample rest to face Madrid in the crucial clash. However, the Premier League stood in their way, forcing Chelsea to play Liverpool shortly before the UCL clash.

In his recent appearance on Obi One podcast, Jose Mourinho recalled Premier League’s hostile gesture from 2014. ” I wanted to play the game on Friday night or Saturday. They didn’t do that for us. The PL didn’t do it. We were crying, we were begging. Then they were saying it is because of audience,” said Mourinho. He added it was unfair for Chelsea to play Liverpool at Anfield with their second-team. So he went with Chelsea’s primary team and guns blazing they were! “When we go there I go there to destroy their party. We went there like we were playing for the title,” said Mourinho about the win.
