Wayne Rooney has finally broken his silence regarding his sacking as the manager of Birmingham City. The Championship side decided to sack Rooney after a disappointing run of only 13 weeks, which saw Birmingham City drop from 6th position to 20th in the Championship. Moreover, the Manchester United legend is not over the setback and wants more time. 

Following the announcement of his dismissal after such a brief tenure, Wayne Rooney has faced harsh criticism from fans, who are urging him to drop his managerial aspirations. Nevertheless, the ex-MLS star refuses to relinquish his pursuit of a successful career in coaching. But in a time when sacked managers take time for a response, Rooney expressed his gratitude to Tom Brady and Co.

In his official statement, the 38-year-old took a moment to express his gratitude to the owners of Birmingham City. Rooney stated, “I would like to thank Tom Wagner, Tom Brady, and Garry Cook for the opportunity to manage Birmingham City FC and the support they all gave me during my short period with the club.”

He continued, “football is a result business,” and acknowledged his failure in producing the desired outcomes. Nonetheless, Wayne Rooney also commented, “However, time is the most precious commodity a manager requires, and I do not believe 13 weeks was sufficient to oversee the changes that were needed.”

Then the English legend talked about his plans, revealing, “Personally, it will take me some time to get over this setback….. Now, I plan to take some time with my family as I prepare for the next opportunity in my journey as a manager.”
