Cristiano Jr, the eldest son of Cristiano Ronaldo, is already making huge strides in the soccer world. Ronaldo has enrolled his 12-year-old son in the Manchester United academy, where Cristiano Jr. plays for the youth side. He was previously with Juventus’ youth academy and made a name for himself, thanks to an eye for the goal. Moreover, he reportedly scored a whopping 58 goals in 28 games for Juventus’ youth team.

Ronaldo has always wanted his son to follow in his footsteps and become a professional soccer player. However, back in 2020, he raised doubts over his son’s chances of making it to the very top of soccer.

Cristiano Junior currently plies his trade with the Manchester United Under-12s. He has often been seen copying his father’s ‘Siu’ celebration after scoring goals. He has even expressed his desire to play alongside his father before he retires. However, it is highly unlikely as Junior is just 12 and his father is getting closer to retirement.

During an interview back in 2020, Ronaldo doubted his son to make it to the top of soccer.

“Not yet,” Ronaldo said. “I’m hard with him sometimes because he drinks Coca-Cola and Fanta sometimes and I’m p***** with him. I fight with him when he eats chips and fries and everything, he knows I don’t like it.”

However, it seems his opinion has changed in the past two years. Earlier this year, Ronaldo admitted that his son has the talent and ability to reach the top.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants his son to be a soccer player

The Portugal captain opened up on his son’s future during Netflix’s ‘I am Georgina’ docuseries based on his girlfriend. During the series, he said that he wants his son to be a professional soccer player because he has the talent and ability for that.

“Cristiano Jr. I’d like him to be a player because he has the ability to be,” Ronaldo said. “I don’t want him to let it go. Because I think everyone has an ability, has a gift, has a talent. Some talents can give you big money and some others can’t. But it is a talent, anyway.”

With Ronaldo staying, United has his son in their academy, who has formed a formidable partnership with Wayne Rooney’s son. Kai Rooney and Cristiano Jr. play for the Under-12s and the club would want them to be a part of their future.

Cristiano Jr has a good chance of making it to the top because of his father, but only if he wants that enough. His consistency in the youth ranks of the United will be crucial in his development.
